Chateau Flammel was founded by a triad of members in the the Society for Creative Anachronism's Kingdom of Caid in 2002 to serve the local barony's need for service people. Organized crews were direly needed and financial stability of the group required reinvention. Chateau Flammel aimed to fill the void with labor and creative fundraising efforts. Times were also at a low ebb in terms of pageantry and inspiration (as happens with all groups on a cyclical basis), and so, efforts were aimed toward developing a richer ambience of the Current Middle Ages by enhancing the theatrical expression of these times.

The hope was to help others know what is possible in making the magical cross-time experience that is the SCA. As goals were achieved, so too did our needs change. The Chateau then turned its focus on our members, themselves. Having worked on fiscal stability and appearance, the next logical objective was providing growth opportunities for SCA participants. Most importantly, above all else, we strive for excellence in whatever we do, especially if it is having fun and enjoying good company.

After serving for several years in Caid, the household made a radical turn in February 2007 as the entirety of the membership relocated to other Kingdoms. The house is currently centered outside of Littleton, Colorado (as of February 2007), but maintains close contact with members, wherver they may be. The Chateau is a now more of a school for courtiers, musicians and performers, perpetuating the courtly graces and fine arts. This training ground offers education in the refinements of period noble social life and teaching the SCA skills, both basic and advanced, of event design, management and volunteer group dynamics.

In 2010, Chateau Flammel became involved in real world theater with great intensity and diversified our focus to include a wider range of arts and service.
